MARK ARTHUR is Nottingham Forest’s Chief Executive. He is Nigel Doughty’s (the club owner’s) ‘man’ in charge at the City Ground. Mark joined Forest after steering Notts County Cricket Club to success upon success. Marks’ remit from Nigel was to ‘get this team out of this league’ Mark immediately set about this task and has had outstanding success. He is now looking to go one step further next season, and has League Two, firmly in his sights. Marks has the unenviable annual task of selling season tickets to some of the most ungrateful supporters in the land. Each year Mark has to think of a slogan in his attempt at this task. One of his better ones was the now well known ‘We’re not serious about promotion, are you?). Most Forest fans see Mark as the ‘Father’ of the club. And many will spend their hard earned cash, on the annual pilgrimage to Mark’s house in Monte Carlo (actually owned by Nigel). It has even been known for Mark to acknowledge some fans on occassions. As Mark himself says ‘At least it’s a chance for them (the fans) to see Europe’. Marks most amazing success has been his ability to convince some fans that Nigel Doughty is doing a great job as owner of the club. Although a serious man by nature, Mark is capable of having a good time. His party piece is his and Nigels Eric ‘n’ Ern routine. Nigel did upset Mark once by actually pulling his rug off his head. Although the locals at Clipstone Colliery Social Club found it funny, Mark didn’t!
